Complete 600 & 1200 Peak Watts
Solar Electric Hybrid Systems
for
Telecommunications, Commercial/Industrial Businesses, Homes, Farms, Eco-Tourism, and other Power Applications.

Designed to last a lifetime.

Polar's Solar Electric Hybrid Systems:

  • Provide up to 5 kW of 120/240 AC power 24 hours a day, seven days a week

  • Larger systems are available

  • Requires the least amount of maintenance over other systems and technologies

  • Can function as a UPS system and reduce your electrical bills at the same time

  • Net metering capability

  • Systems can be transported from site to site

  • 24 or 48 Vdc outputs are available

  • The DC generator provides reliable backup to the batteries

  • The DC generator supplements the power from the PV Array

Can be shipped and installed anywhere in the world.  System can be shipped dissembled for simple assembly on site.  Special frames can be provided for Helicopter transportation to the site.

A Simple Operation
The system derives most of its energy through the solar Photovoltaic (PV) array.  The PV array supplies DC power to the inverter during the day and at the same time charges a bank of batteries.  The inverter converts the DC power into AC at 120/240 Volts as required to operate your appliances.  At night time the batteries supply power to the inverter thereby providing reliable power 24 hours a day.   There is a DC generator in the system to charge the batteries during heavy energy usage or periods of poor sunshine.  The DC generator is more efficient and reliable than an AC generator.  AC generators, however, are available

Completely engineered as a system.
In a solar electric system there are many engineering factors that should be incorporated into the system design to maximize reliability and efficiency along with lowering maintenance.

System incorporates Thermoregulation for longer component life.
A combination of passive and forced ventilation keeps the inverter, batteries, and generator running cool.  For each 10 degrees over room temperature the life of the batteries is decrease by one half.  In addition hot enclosures decrease inverter capacity and reliability along with increasing the generator’s oil maintenance requirement.   Even in cool weather with conventional shelters, the heat build up from the inverter and batteries under charge and or the generator operation can raise the shelter temperatures to destructive temperatures.

Rugged construction and corrosion resistant.
The base frame is constructed of welded 4" and 3" C channel for unitized strength. The entire base is then hot dipped galvanized to protect the welds and metal from corrosion.  The PV array supports are constructed galvanized Unistrut.

Simple and concise wiring meeting National Electric Codes.
Wiring on a production bases (as opposed to custom installations wired in the field) provides better documentation, cleaner wire runs, and greater immunity to lightning surges.  Polar provides wires that are numbered on each end for easier trouble shooting, optimum wire gages are used with the correct circuit breaker capacities.  Polar uses the very best 105 C and higher rated wire with very long life insulation materials.  Humidity, temperature, battery acid, engine oils and fuels can break down many of the lower cost wire insulation materials,  Polar uses the best insulation materials for safety and long life.  Detailed wiring schematics are provided.

Adjustable tilt on the PV array structure.
Simple to adjust array tilt maximizes solar energy output season to season.

Can be shipped and installed any where in the world.

Applications:

  • Factories and commercial buildings

  • Homes and farms

  • Telecommunications sites

  • Hotels, cottages, and remote resorts

  • Oil Field

  • Remote research stations

  • Temporary power for fairs and special promotional events

  • UPS, Uninterruptible Power System

Model 1200

Model 600 pW

Light Usage - This system will provide 3 kWh per day on an annual average from the sun’s energy (areas with 5 peak solar hours).  The 2.4 kW, DC generator, allows supplemental fuel to increase the capacity to over 20 kWh per day.  The standard Trace inverter option is capable of starting motors up to 1/2 HP. Optional soft starter or second Trace inverter will power larger HP pumps.  This system power quality is safe for most motors, computers and electronics. The system is guaranteed to power your home electronics center and not interfere with its performance. Using solar energy alone it will provide sufficient electrical power for the moderate use of:

  • Lighting

  • Entertainment equipment

  • Small appliances

  • Small Refrigerator

  • Computer

  • Water Pump

  • Evaporative Cooler

Includes:

  • 600 pW Photovoltaic (PV) Array. Polycrystalline or single-crystalline based on availability at time of order.

  • PV Array produces a nominal 3kWh per day of electricity in moderately sunny weather.

  • 2.4 kW 48 VDC propane generator, Model 48KBT. Air-cooled Robin-Subaru engine with heavy-duty, brush type, alternator.

  • Quiet weather resistant enclosure for the model 48KBT DC generator.

  • Available as either a 24 or 48 Volt system. Choose 48 for higher AC inverter efficiency.

  • Stainless steel battery box. Holds up to 16 Trojan T105 batteries.

  • Control enclosure. For mounting inverter, charge controller, circuit breakers, and 120 VAC convenience outlet.

  • Circuit breakers. For PV array and inverter.

  • Type T fuses for short protection on the DC generator and battery banks.

  • Galvanized adjustable tilt PV array structure. PV array is hinged for convenient seasonal adjustments.

  • System can be expanded to 1200 pW with a simple kit.

  • Wiring in place ready for battery and array installation.
